School Schedule Changes & Closings

Scheduled Delayed Opening

When Mason Elementary School has a 2-hour delayed opening, school will begin two hours later than the regular start time. Morning bus pick-up times will also be delayed by two hours. Dismissal and afternoon bus schedules will remain unchanged and operate at their regular times.

  • Regular start time: 9:00 a.m.
  • Delayed start time: 11:00 a.m.

Delay and Closure Policy

If Mason Elementary School is closed or delayed due to hazardous road conditions, families are informed in the following manner.

  • Alma System – Families will receive a automated call to alert them of the delay or cancellation
  • Radio and television – WBZ-TV, WMUR-TV
  • SAU 89 website
  • Recorded telephone message at the school – A recorded telephone message will be available on 878-2962, 878-1744, and 878-3439. This will typically be in place between 6:15 a.m. and 7:30 a.m.

Early Release

An early dismissal may occur when weather conditions or other emergencies require students to be sent home before the regular end of the school day. If Mason Elementary School has an early dismissal, families will be notified through an Alma Alert.
 
It is essential that the school has current phone numbers for parents and emergency contacts that can be reached during school hours.
 
Because early dismissals can create child care challenges, they are declared only when absolutely necessary. Parents and guardians should have a plan in place for their child in the event of an early dismissal. We encourage families to make arrangements in advance with child care providers, relatives, friends, or neighbors and to share those plans with the school office.
 
It is also important that children understand these arrangements so they know what to do if an early dismissal occurs.
 
 

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR MASON STUDENTS ATTENTING MILFORD MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL

Mason students attending Milford Middle and High Schools may experience a school delay or cancellation due to road conditions specifically within the town of Mason.  Because road conditions can vary greatly between our towns, Mason students may have a delayed start or cancellation even if Milford School District is operating on a normal schedule.  If Mason roads are not safe for the buses and school is delayed or canceled parents may choose to drive their children to school in Milford or they will receive an excused absence or tardy.  

To ensure you get the Alma notification about delays and cancellations it is critical that your phone numbers and email addresses are up to date in our system. Emergency alert calls and texts are our primary way of notifying you of Mason-specific delays.
